Gure euskalduntzearen datu adoregarriak
Ez dugu oraindik irabazi. Baina Hegoaldean irabazten ari gara. Ondo kostata, ezin egoera larriagotik gatozelako. Baina azken 60 urtean egin dugun lan gaitzari esker, etorkizuna gero eta euskaldunagoa datorkigu urtetik urtera. Beste kontu bat da Iparraldea. Eta Hegoaldean ere, batetik EAE eta Nafarroa Garaiko eremu ‘euskalduna’, eta bestetik Nafarroa Garaiko eremu ‘misto’ eta ‘ez-euskalduna’. Baina Hegoaldean irabazten ari gara. Eta ez bakarrik askoz hiztun gehiago irabazi dugulako azken 40 urtean (bikoiztu gara euskal hiztunak), baizik eta gure belaunaldi erdaldunduenen aldean (2021ean 50 urtetik gora dituztenak), belaunaldi gazteagoetan nabarmen hasten delako igotzen etxean euskara soilik darabilgunon kopurua. Bikoitza 10 urtetik beherakoen artean, baina oro har ere bai. Eta baita euskara ama/lehen hizkuntza dugunon kopurua % 15eraino jaitsi eta gero 2021ean 30 eta 44 urte bitartean dituztenen artean, belaunaldi gazteagoetan berriro hasten delako proportzio hori igotzen (%21,33 10-14 urte bitartekoen artean), eta hori delako etorkizuna. Estatistika orokorretan askoz pisu handiagoa dute 30 urtetik gorako belaunaldi erdaldunduenak, belaunaldi gehiago dira, belaunaldi ugarienak, Hegoaldeko 1950-1980 bitarteko hazkunde ekonomikoaren ondorio, baina hori ez da etorkizuna.
Hala ere maiz zabaltzen ditugu gure artean mezu etsigarriak: “Gaizki goaz. Ez dugu ezer asko lortu azken 60 urtean, egin dugun lan nekezarekin.” Joan den azaroaren 6an irakurri genezakeen halako beste artikulu etsigarri bat Berrian ere euskaldunok EAEn daramakegun ‘galbideaz’ (Erabileraren arazoa, Garikoitz Goikoetxea), 2021eko zentsuaren datu zenbaiten harira (Eustat - Biztanleriaren eta etxebizitzen zentsuak - Euskara ?sarean?). Halako esaldi ernegagarriak bertan: “Gero eta gehiagok dakite euskaraz, baina gutxiagok erabiltzen dute etxean”. “1991n baino 400.000 herritar gehiagok dakite euskaraz […], baina etxeko hizkuntza euskara dutenak orduan baino 2.000 gutxiago dira”. “Antzeko argazkia eman zuen Euskal Herriko kaleko erabileraren neurketak […]: %13aren azpian trabatuta dago erabilera, 2000ko hamarkadan baino apalago, nahiz eta ordutik milaka herritarrek ikasi duten euskara.” “[E]uskara etxean jaso dutenak gero eta gutxiago dira. Argia da zentsua: 1991n, 432.000 herritarrek zuten euskara lehen hizkuntza […]; 2021ean, 391.000 herritarrek.”, “Egoera gordina da: esan nahi du, finean, euskaraz dakiten herritarrek proportzioan gutxiago egiten dutela euskaraz”. “Eremu euskaldunenetan […] jaitsi egin da ezagutza urteotan, eta erabilera maldan behera doa.” Inoren kemenak urtzeko adina adierazpen Euskaraldi berriaren atarian. Baina kontu bakoitzari begiratu behar zaio bere aldetik.
Badakigu estatistikek zernahi irakurketarako bide eman ohi dutela, eta beti hartu behar ditugu bere gatz puntuarekin. Baina zuzen irakurri behar dira eta ongi interpretatu, aurrera egiten asmatuko badugu, eta ez bakarrik aldez aurretik erabakitako mezu(ezkorr)ak zabaltzeko.
Euskaldunon kopuruak EAEn (eta antzera Nafarroa Garaiko eremu ‘euskaldunean’)
Hasteko, txikikeria pare bat. Edo ez hain. Ze, egia da EAEn 2021ean (ia) 400.000 herritar gehiagok dakigula euskaraz 1991n baino, populazioaren %43,31k, %26,28ren aldean, 17 puntu gehiago. Baina jakin behar da ere hori dela 40 urtean bikoiztea baino gehiago euskaldunon kopurua. 2021ean 936.812 euskaldun (oso edo) bide gara EAEn, 1991ko 543.617 eta 1981ko 448.156ren aldean, 488.656 gehiago, %109,04ko hazkundea. Euskaldun bakoitzak beste euskaldun bat baino gehiago eragin dugu 40 urtean. Eta bada zerbait. Mirari bat da. Hala diote munduan. Eta Eustaten oharrak dioen bezala: “Euskaldunen proportzioak 10-14 urtekoetan %90,5eko gehienekoa du, eta 70-74 urtekoetan eta 75 urte eta gehiagokoetan %22,1eko gutxienekoa. Oro har, adinak gora egin ahala, euskararen ezagutzak behera egiten du. Euskaldunen kopurua %70etik gorakoa da 30 urtetik beherako biztanleengan, eta proportzio horren azpira jaisten da pertsona adinduenen taldeetan.” Eta, bizitza lege, belaunaldi zahar ugarien erdaldunen horiek badoaz, eta belaunaldi berri (ia erabat) euskaldunak gatoz. Ia-euskaldunak ere kontuan, euskaraz ulertzen dugunak edo, EAEko populazio osoaren %62,4 bide gara. Batez beste EAEko biztanleen hirutik birekin egin genezake euskaraz ulertzen gaituelako segurantzan eta 10etik 8 baino gehiagorekin ere bai 35 urtez azpikoen artean (%81,04) ?ia guztiak azken etorkin uholdea salbu?. Eta ulertzen ez bagaituzte, hasi beharko dugu behingoz, gure hitzak gehiago ez itzultzen espainolera ahal dugun guztian. Ikasi dezatela behingoz! Intsumisio linguistikoa!
Noski alimaleko ugaritze horrek arazo berriak dakarzkigu. Dena ez da gari. Soilik eskola bidezko hiztun berrien gaitasuna ez da maiz beraiek ere nahi luketena, haien hizkuntza kalitate eta erabilera mailak ere ez nahi genituzkeenak. Ez da erraza halako hiztunen euskal fidelizazioa lortzea, euskaldun bihotzeko bihurtzea. Gizartean pauso berri eta gehiago eman behar ditugu. Arazoak ez zaizkigu amaitu. Ongi kudeatu beharko dugu azken urteotan iritsi zaigun (hirugarren) etorkin uholdea, oraindik areagotu dakigukeena. Gainditzen asmatu beharko dugu euskaldun bihotzekoon artean ere hainbatetan sortu nekea. Adoretu beharko ditugu belaunaldi gazteetako euskaldun bihotzekoak, ez dezaten etsi. Arazo berriek irtenbide berriak eskatzen dizkigute. Ez diogu orain guk ere espainolez ekingo, gure bizilaguna oraindik hasi ez delako euskara behar bezala erabiltzen. Baina, oxala EAEko eta Nafarroa Garaiko eremu ‘euskalduneko’ arazo berberak bagenitu egun Iparraldean ere edo Nafarroa Garaiko eremu ‘misto’ eta ‘ez-euskaldunean’, eta ez zoritxarrez orain dauzkagunak! Eta ziur orain arte ere egin ahalko zirela gauzak hobeto EAEn eta Nafarroa Garaiko iparraldean ere. Baina ez da gutxi egin duguna, mirakulua baita. Eta egin ditzagun gauzak are hobeto hemendik aurrera!
Etxeko erabileraz
Hasteko, esan, gutxigatik bada ere, ez dela egia ‘etxeko hizkuntza euskara dugunak 1991n baino 2.000 gutxiago garela’. Biztanleria osoa kontuan, 1991n baino 1.316 gehiago bide gara, Eustaten arabera (288.382 vs 287.066, %13,15 vs. %13,88). Beraz bere horretan ere ez da egia (osoa behintzat) “gehiagok dakigula euskaraz, baina gutxiagok egiten dugula etxean”. Nahiz estatistika orokorrei begira, etsigarria iruditu dakigukeen azken 30 urtean ‘batere’ ez hazi izana ‘etxeko erabilera’. Bosna urtekako datuak 1991tik 2021ra: %13,88 / %13,67 / %13,68 / %13,07 / %13,63 / %14,01 / %13,15. Datuak ordea, ondo irakurtzen asmatu behar dugu. Ze gauza bat da gizarte osoaren datuak batzea, eta beste bat berriro ikustea nola gatozen belaunaldi gazteak eta nola doazen helduak (ik. 1. eta 2. taulak).
Euskara etxean gutxien erabiltzen duen belaunaldia da 2021ean 55-59 urte bitartean dituena, 1962-1966 bitartean jaioa: %10,26, eta hortik gatoz. 2021ean 75 urte edo gehiago dituztenek ere (belaunaldi zahar euskaldunena) %12,83 baino ez. Tarteko belaunaldiek gero eta gutxiago %10,26 horretara bitarte. Hortik aurrera hasten da oso pixkanaka berriro igotzen etxeko erabilera. 1997-2001 bitartean jaioek, 2021ean 20 eta 24 urte bitarte dituztenen etxeko euskara hutseko erabilera %14,01era igotzen da, eta %21,25eraino ere bai (bikoitza) 2021ean 5-9 urte bitartekoen artean. 2-4 urtekoek gutxiago, %20,71 (belaunaldi etorkinak tarteko). Ez da nahi genukeen guztia, baina 10 puntu gehiago, %100 baino gehiago. Eta hortik gora joan behar dugu.
Eta etxean euskara (ere behintzat) badarabiltenak, nahiz espainolarekin batera, 50-54 urte edo gehiagokoen artean ez dira iristen %10era (gutxien %6,49 75 urte edo gehiagokoen artean). Gazteagoek hortik oso gora. %25,06 2021ean 5 eta 9 urte bitarte dituztenen artean, % 26,92 2-4 urtekoen artean. Belaunaldi zaharrenetan baino 4 aldiz gehiago. Badakigu hori ez dela soluzio magikoa, baina bada zerbait, soilik eskolan ikasten dutenen aldean. Euskara soilik izatea baino okerragoa da, baina espainol hutsa izatea baino infinituki hobea ere bai, geroa gero. Horrela, etxean euskara soilik edo euskara eta espainola darabilgunon proportzioa %47,63koa da 2-4 urte bitarteko belaunaldian (jadaneko espainola soilik darabilen % 45,62 baino gehiago lehenengo aldiz), % 46,31koa 5-9 urte bitartekoen artean (soilik espainola darabiltenen %49,14ren aldean). 75 urte baino gehiagokoen artean % 19,32. Eta 65-69 urte dituztenen artean %17,91n (gazteenak baino 2 aldi eta erdi gutxiago inguru). Belaunaldi zaharren hauetan %80koa da espainol soilaren erabilera etxean. Gauzak beraz ari ditugu pixkanaka aldatzen. Ez dugu oraindik irabazi. Baina irabazten ari gara, ondo kostata bada ere.
Ezin da etsigarriki esan beste gabe “Gero eta […] gutxiagok erabiltzen dute etxean”.

Ama/lehen hizkuntza datuak
Antzeko eskalak erakusten dizkigute ama/lehen hizkuntza datuek ere (kasuan berrienak 2016koak, ez dira oraindik argitaratu 2021ekoak). Ez gaude ondo. Baina irabazten ari gara. Kostata, hori bai. Baina gure urte guztiotako ekinari esker. Belaunaldi erdaldunenak dira 1952 eta 1986 artean jaiotakoak, 2016an 30 eta 64 urte artean dituztenak (2021ean 35-69). Lehen hizkuntza euskara soilik dutenak %15,42 dira 1982-86 bitartean jaiotakoen artean, daturik okerrena. Hortik %21,33 igotzen da 2002-2006 bitartean jaiotakoen artean, 2016an 10-14 urte dituztenak (2021ean 15-19), nahiz berriro pixka bat jaisten den gazteagoen artean (etorkin belaunaldiak tarteko).
Ama/lehen hizkuntza euskara eta espainola biak dituztenak belaunaldi zaharrenetan ez dira %2 eta %3 bitarte, baina badira %17,03 ere 2016an 2-4 urte bitarte dituztenak (2021ean 7-9). Ez da panazea, baina badira aukera okerragoak. Azken batean, ama/lehen hizkuntza euskara soilik, edota euskara eta espainola, dutenen proportzioa %36,65ekoa da jada 2-4 urte bitarteko belaunaldian. Belaunaldi erdaldunenetan %20 inguru baino ez (datu okerrena %19,96 2016an 45-49 urte bitarte dituztenen artean ?2016an 50-54?) ?ik. 3. eta 4. taulak?.
Ezin da beste gabe etsigarri esan “[E]uskara etxean jaso dutenak gero eta gutxiago dira. Argia da zentsua”. Ez gaude nahi genukeen bezain ondo. Baina irabazten ari gara. Eta irabazi nahi badugu gogor ekin beharko diegu egunean eguneko erronkei.
